Making even more room for parts.  The 4 post rack/shelf was going to become round hood central.  We started putting some of the parts up there when I got another idea...

As I looked around up there there just wasn't enough shelf space.  Then it came to me, I have Fastenal gondolas and shelves all over the place so might as well use more of them.  The 5-1/2 foot tall ones would work perfect up there and 3 of them could go the length with a half shelf (end cap) on the end.  The shelves would be completely adjustable, hold tons of weight, and I could get 50 or more shelves up there and just use half the floor space if it was planned right.  I could even move some stuff off of the indoor pallet racks making more space there, and empty 2 of the 6' rolling shelves.

There will be a ton of moving things around but in the end it will free up a ton of space.  We took the Air Horse tug, wheel weights, and chains down yesterday and got started.  There is free space on the inside pallet racks for those 2 pallets already.  First 3 pics are the before pics.

Lol Nappy.     Most of what's in the pics is round hood stuff.  The only thing I see you may want is wheel weights if you don't have them already, and the top of the custom push bar on the floor peeking out in the 5th pic.

We got 3 sets of them up today.  More stuff has to be moved to put the end cap 1/2 unit up.  We decided not to put the bottom finish panels on.  The floor can be another shelf even though there is only 6" of height there a lot of things can go there.  As it stands now there will be 49 shelves there once the end cap is up.  I'm sure some of the shelves will changed, and a few spots tightened up for smaller parts so when all is said and done there will be between 50-60 shelves.  That will put a huge dent in the mess around here.

Using some of the shelves also made a nice little floor space under the rack for something.  I have another chiro appt tomorrow morning but will be working on it tomorrow afternoon so I'll put up another update tomorrow.

The parts used to link to the online store here on the website but that went away a few years ago when Dad started going down hill, sorry.

I should have said online store, oops.  I fixed the previous post as well.  Everything here is still going just no shipping like was in the online store for a lot of things.

I can't put all the different prices online with everything else because #1, there are way way way too many parts, and #2, price depends on condition.  There we have NOS, new made here, rebuilt, used like new, a little rust, more rust, light rust pits, a little deeper rust pits.  The same goes for sheet metal only we add light cracks, different levels or amounts of dents, and it goes on and on and on...

I have pics on the camera of todays shelf progress but it's past time to go, again...

Had to go see the chiro peeps yesterday morning and run some errands.  With cooler weather coming in and mowing season over the phone is starting to go a little crazy again with peeps wanting parts, Winter attachments, and bringing more stuff to work on.  It's slowing progress a little on the shelf project but we did manage to empty some of the old shelves and get the room needed for the end cap.

Today will be finishing up everything, mounting the shelves to the floor, getting everything cleaned up, and start rearranging and putting things up there.  The floor space is already coming in handy for smaller parts like the starters in the pic.  There were some misc shelves up there that may end up back up there along the other side of the floor to hold even more things.

One of the 520-8s and a C-175 need to be moved to access the outside upper shelves.  Maybe I can switch them with the 500 Special and 1045 short frames on the other side (pics 6+7) and make enough room to put a ladder near the outside shelves, we'll see.  That walkway as you can see in the last pic is a real mess with parts from all of the mad dash parting things out here lately...

We really got a lot done today.  Round hood central isn't even gonna take up 1/2 of the back side shelves.  The hoods were taking up the most space.  We have 17 up there now and I'm sure we'll find a few more hoods and other things scattered around here but we got most of everything up there.  We added extra shelves 5" apart and each shelf was 2" shorter from 24" to 16" allowing for a pyramid where the hoods are.  Hoods are organized top to bottom from oldest to newest, fuel tanks that used to be all tossed in a crate in the 1st pic are also all organized and only took up a few shelves.

The round hood tool boxes will stay on the rack they are on (an old heavy battery rack), and there's a lot of empty space on the other shelves up there.   Most of them are still empty.  The walk way around everything gives lots of room to move up there too.  There's still other things like towers, fenders, seats + such but there's a ton of empty space left.

We'll be getting back to work up there Monday and should make a lot more space around the shop by end of that day.  One of the 520-8's and the C-175 are cleared off and ready to come out and do something else there to make it easy to get to the front side of the shelves.  We'll see what next week brings but I'm really happy with the outcome so far.
