Seat Help Please?

I have been to five TSC stores, various hardware stores, and even my general rental store which carries lawn and garden tractor seats. I just purchased another seat and it too is a universal fit that will not work. Any chance anyone on the forum could give me a name and perhaps model number of a mid-back seat please? Don't like the low backs, and don't need the really high back. This is to go on the 1973 12 that I recently purchased from Geno. Any help, information etc would greatly help. Who has found one to fit the old Wheelhorse pan, and where did ya get the thing? Thanks!

In any case, I believe what most people do is remove that seat pan all together and just bolt the new seat directly to the seat springs.

Chime in and correct me if I am wrong guys.

Major Bailey also has a good line on a seat.....I didn't know if Northern Tool had a store near you.... They don't have one near me.... TSC may have one but you may need to order it online also.....

Should be 7 1/2 wide.....7 from to back.....I think.....

It didn't have the 3 piece seat AJ. It had an aftermarket seat that was pretty rough. 73 models had no seat springs either, they bolted directly to the fender pan, however the seat spring dimensions are the same. :)

Bob is right on the dimensions 7-1/2" wide x 7". :thumb1

Hi all, and thanks for all the immediate replies. I did locate a set of seat springs from another Wheelhorse, and the low back seat I bought was able to be bolted to the springs. Problem now is, the seat pan bolts require that the seat and springs be mounted all the way forward due to the flip open style of seat pan (nifty toolbox area under seat pan) I'm not tall, but my knees hit the PTO engagement and the deck lift arms. Very uncomfortable. Just wish I could find the right style of seat to be able to enjoy this little old tractor a bit before we tear it down to begin restoring. Attached is a photo of the snow plow attached, sans the lift link I have yet to go and pick up. Love this little tractor. Wish I had a C160 parked next to it.

Oh and please ignore the disaster area formerly know as an attached garage. Things are a bit crazy in there right now :doh

There should be 3 sets of holes there to adjust it forward and back. Looks like you can go back 1 more hole and bolt the spring through the pan mount. If you remove the springs you can go all the way back. That tractor didn't come out with springs so they get in the way if you're going to the last hole rearward.

Some springs are offset to, if you flip them it moves the seat. :)

:thanks Geno...it does appear as if rotating the springs may give a bit more flexibility, however the seat itself doesn't have more than a few holes. I guess it isn't really a "universal" mounting platform. I think I will return this seat as well, and just order one from Northern Tool. That is, if I can verify bolt patterns prior to purchase. This is basically what I "want" and what I am searching for. Thanks again for any and all input.
