I was on with the phone with someone today about restoring a D200 but it cost more for us to restore one than what it will be worth when done so I talked them out of it lol. I never have or ever will own a D series, parts are too rare and they cost too much to fix let alone restore and sell...

You are on the right track though if you want one, buying a nice one and being done with it is the best way to go.
